Happpiest Halloween from Africa!

Hi everybody, hope you are all doing good and being safe! This week has been great!

Well first off we had 4 baptisms on Saturday! Abigail, Ester, Edna, and Ernest! Awesome young kids who I have grown to know very well over the past couple of months! They are awesome and I'm so happy for them getting the chance to be baptized!

As for other things we have been doing lots of finding here. The town here in Asunafo had a big party this weekend because they had 8 funerals. It was so crazy, loud music, people dancing in the streets and so on. We stayed away from the main part of town. We are having success here and the Lord is truly blessing us for our efforts here. We met two awesome guys who we are preparing for baptism in November. I'm excited for them. Missionary work is going great here!

I have been reading in Doctrine and Covenants this past week and I'm on section 25 and God is talking to Emma Smith and in the very first verse, it says all those who receive my gospel are sons and daughters in my kingdom. I love that part. People who receive this message are sons and daughters in God's kingdom. Also something else my trainer on mission explained to me, I would like to share is in 3rd Nephi 12:9 when Jesus Christ visits the people of the Americas and tells them "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God."
I want to reverse that and say "Blessed are the children of God for they shall be called the peacemakers." We as children of god have a chance to be peacemakers unto others. Serve others with our full heart. I have found that true as I have been here on mission serving God's children. The love they show to you is amazing. It has brought me great joy!

I know this letter is not that long but I just want to tell all of you thank you for the love and support you show to me here. I could not have come this far without you guys. Love you all!

Below I would like to share with you a letter from Elder Paulson's companion, who is from Ghana. He has such a humbling story. Elder Paulson asked me to write to him because he does not get many letters from his family. So both Brad and I wrote to him and he told us today that we now have an African son in Ghana! He thinks of Max as his brother. I have not edited it. His main language is Twi so his English is a little rough, but he is really helping with teaching the Gospel. Elder Paulson told me today that he will definitely leave a piece of his heart in Ghana and feels sad to think about leaving Ghana and the people there! I just love that!



Dear Mother-

It was a great week and also a busy week,We had four baptism they were five but one couldn't make it,I was the baptizer and it was a great experience for me.I and Elder Paulson had a great week and we also enjoyed the work,Last Saturday we traveled to Sagubenase to interviewed some people for baptism for the Elders there and it was good,for me to see how lovely children of our Father In Heaven want to enter into covenant with Him is a great moment for me and we have been called as instrument in His hands and brings them unto thee,Missionary work is the greatest work upon this Earth.

Elder Paulson is a great basketball player and he has told me more about it and also football as well,he told me that he plays for the Bingham team and also shown me some pictures it was cool.From Asunafo where I and Elder Paulson are serving to where I'm from is 6 hours journey it's far,Asunafo is in the Eastern Region Of Ghana I'm from the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

I will like to tell you about my life,My name is Elvis Antwi from the Ashanti part of Ghana from a town called Asonomaso,the people in Asonomaso wave Kente I mean the fabric Because Asonomaso is close to Bonwire the origin of Kente.My mum's name is Alice Daagye and My Father is Kwabena Antwi,my father is from the Brong and Ahafo Region of Ghana.I have 3 oldest siblings ,I'm the youngest and I love my family but I did not have Happy family but I'm still praying for them to be a happy family one day.

My lovely Father who I love most passed away on the 15 April 2017 while I was serving,Mr Antwi started learning with missionaries and also attending Sacrament meeting,He was writing me every Monday.My father died because of a liver problem and I MISSED him,Anytime I feel he around me but I know I will see him one day,I know Our FATHER in Heaven has as a great plan for all His Children.My older brother and my mum are member but now they less active because they are saying that Heavenly Father do not care about the family because the family is suffering,I have been sending them letters but they do not want go back to church but I know in His own due time they will change.

I'm high School graduate and I'm cultural dancers and runner,I danced for me school and won many competitions.I graduated 2014 and I was working as cleaner for for company that what I was using to care for my mother because my dad and my mum have been divorced for long time and my mum is not working Ghana is not easy. I joined the church in August 2014 and it has been a blessing for me,that why I'm also out sharing what I know to be true to other to enjoy the blessing.

Mom you will know more about Elder Antwi,feel free to ask me any question because I'm also your son.I will send my testimony or how I became a Member of the Lord's church in christmas it will be pouch because I have printed it.

Hello friends and family, hope all is going well with you guys back in the USA! I hope this letter finds you all well and awesome!

The first highlight of the week is the creation of the Abomosu stake here! Yesterday Elder Marcus B. Nash of the seventy came here to do the creation and call the stake president! It was a awesome experience! There was 1458 people from all over that came to see this event. There were chiefs and kings and these people from all over! The missionaries were the ushers and that was somehow interesting. The Lord is truly blessing these people. Marcus B. Nash came up to me to shake my hand and said "Ive been all places in West Africa Elder, the people here have something special about them, it's a historic day you get to witness". He is an awesome man and truly a disciple of Christ!

Another event that took place is we had Multi Zone conference, we travel down to Ofankor and get to hear from our leaders and President. They gave a great instruction on obedience and how we need to take the full portion of the spirit, President Simpson is truly inspired by the Lord and he is a great Mission President.

Another thing this week with our area is that this coming Saturday we are planning on baptizing 5 of those 10 people I talked about a little while back. They are all younger but are all awesome and I have grown close to them and have seen them come unto Christ. I am super excited for all of them and this chance they have. We have also been learning with this guy named Felix. He is about 20 and he is also awesome, he has come to church like 4 times now and is truly prepared by the Lord.

This week I am now in Alma again. This is the start of the reign of Judges and Alma is made the Chief Judge. I like to look back on King Mosiah's life and how he truly loved the people and wanted them to come unto Christ. He was worried for the future of his people and them falling into the hands of a wicked ruler. He labored with them and worked beside them. I think king Mosiah was a great man in the Book of Mormon and he is one of my favorites.

Have any of you ever seen the movie The Other Side of Heaven? You know how everyone calls him Koli Poki? Everyone here calls me Boufloat. I don't know really what it means, but that is what they call me. Haha. Hope that will give you all a little chuckle to start out this email!

Well we have had a successful week this week, we were able to have 1 baptism on Saturday which is always an awesome experience to see someone enter the waters of baptism and make that promise with our Father in Heaven.

We were able to find 6 new investigators this week, and 5 people came to church. We had 9 people come to sacrament meeting! So this week has been a awesome week!

Life is good here in our little village of Asunafo.

The reason why I put Koli Poki is because I'm the only white guy here and no one really speaks English. Life is good because my companion is from Ghana so he speaks the language. I've come to love Ghana food more here. We eat a lot of plantains and different stews. We eat yam and banku which is like cooked corn dough with water. Life is good, I'm enjoying it. Ten months is not long!

So I'm reading in the Doctrine and Covenants now and also the Book of Mormon again. This week I finished Abinadi and his account and went into when Alma is converted from the words of Abinadi which goes to show us that even though sometimes it seems like no one is listening, you can have a major affect on someone else.

Alma did many amazing things from his conversion and Alma taught and helped many people come unto Christ.

I would encourage all of you to read the Book of Mormon it will strengthen your testimony in Jesus Christ. I have enjoyed reading it and continue to read it every day!

Hello people back home! I hope you are all doing well and have had a fantastic week!

This week we have had a great week here in Asunafo, Ghana with the missionary work. We have been able to find 7 new investigators this week. The work is moving forward and the Lord is truly blessing us for our efforts here. I am continuing to fall in love with this place. The people are great and the village is amazing.

We have been teaching this man named Emmanuel for a while and he was suppose to be baptized this past week but unfortunately his sister passed away and he attended the funeral so we are hoping to have him baptized on the 28th of October as well with 9 others. So for that week we are planning on baptizing 10 people which I am super excited for.

Being a District leader brings a whole new perspective into play with being a missionary. It's awesome to get some more experience in a different way. It helps you to look at others and think of ways to help them become better missionaries as well as yourself.

I have finished reading the Book of Mormon like I said but I have now begun again reading it with the mission. We are in Mosiah 11 and this chapter is where Abinadi comes in and preaches to King Noah and tells him of the wicked things and that they need to repent and he speaks of Christ and his coming. I think about the faith that these people had. They had never seen Jesus Christ, they just had faith and through their faith they knew that he would come and be their Savior. Over the past week I have had the chance to study more on the Atonement of the Savior. It really hits home to think about when Jesus was in the Garden and he asks his father that if there is anyway that he cannot do this, but he will do it if it his will. I think about how many times I have complained or told my dad I don't want to do something because it seemed to hard or boring. I now know that the love that Jesus had for his Father he was willing to do anything he asked. He loved each one of us so much that he suffered and died. He didn't want to do it. He just knew that he HAD to for each ONE of us to have the chance to live with him again. My testimony has grown of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for his sacrifice so that each one of us may live with him again. If you want to read one of my favorite chapters in the Book of Mormon it is Alma 7 which talks about Jesus Christ.

Well good afternoon from Ghana. Hope you all had a great General Conference weekend and had your prays answered in one way or the other.

This week was good. Elder Stilson left me to travel home to the USA on Sunday night and Monday my new companion arrived Elder Antwi. He is a Ghanaian from the Ashanti region and he is an awesome guy.

We have been teaching and trying to find some new people to teach in our area. This week we are planning on having 2 baptisms. Hopefully all goes well and as planned.

This week we also did some service on Saturday morning by going to the farm with our ward mission leader and planting some corn and he gave us some plantains for helping him. It's totally like you see on the movies of Africa jungle when you go there. I'll send you some pictures. Also he asked if I would carry a thing of Palm Nut on my head going out (I think it was mostly so he could laugh). Anyway though it was a funny experience. Also if you want to know what palm nut is you should google it. I don't really want to explain it. It's awesome though, they smash it into juice and then make oil and cook with it.

This week I finished the Book Of Mormon. It was a great experience to read it for a second time on mission and reading it again really makes me look more and think more about the things I read and helps to understand about the Savior more. It is true that reading it again and again you always get something different out of reading it. I think about Moroni at the end of the Book of Mormon and how he was alone but he knew that God was with him and would not leave him. He has amazing faith. I am now going to start reading The Doctrine and Covenants so we will see how that goes.

9-carrying the palm nut (I looked it up -Palm oil is obtained from the flesh of palm fruit and is used as shortening, cooking oil, and in many food products. Palm nut oil is extracted from the kernel, or seed, of palm fruit and is nearly 80 percent saturated fat.
